What's growing on my water lettuce?

Guy at my LFS told me it was water lettuce, explains why my searches didn't match up lol. But I was referring to the white fuzzy things growing over the bumps on some of the leaves. For reference, this is how they looked like before.

Mould. Probably from too little aeration under the lid. Toss it.

I wouldn't toss it, unless op is allergic, getting it a lot more airflow will dry out the mold a lot and likely make it go away. If they didn't want to risk their tank at all, putting it in a mason jar, or some other large clear container filled with aquarium water. Putting said container in a well ventilated space with plenty of light would give it a change to recover and maybe even reproduce. just make sure you change out water every few days

Usually when you can see the mould on the outside of what it's growing on it is already everywhere on the inside, but I'd like to see that work, though I doubt it.
