Okay so I have been dating this guy, and he now has given in with my fish hobby. He knows I've been eyeing a couple fish on aquabid for a while and so now he's wanting to know what fish I want because he's going to buy me "something cool" for my tank. He gave me a limit of $100.

I definitely want something freshwater that would go in one of "my" tanks because my mom already buys super cool fish for our saltwater tanks. So my question is what would you ask for. I feel so overwhelmed.

My dream fish is a Zebra pleco, I'd be willing to throw the extra money in to get one but if/when I get them I want a few of them to try to breed.

So as of now I'm thinking about getting some sort of fancy pleco that stays on the smaller side. I'd consider larger ones but I really don't want to deal with them when they get huge. I've been looking at aquabid, petsolutions, and liveaquaria and haven't found anything spectacular that jumps out at me and when I do I find out they are an arm and a leg or they are out of stock ):

I'm also interested in colorful killifish that would do well in my 125. I'm also just considering just asking him to get the 10 kuhilI loaches on aquabid since I've been wanting to add some of them anyways, then he's only spending like $35 and I get some awesome fish.

EDIT: I'm also considering a pair of apistos or something if they would work well in my tank. My only concern is I already have a 2 rams, and 2 angels in the tank as well.

its awesome to have a partner that loves your hobby!!!

I would just wait for your zebra pleco, no fish can replace your desire to have one, so I would wait and until one is available, the thing about liveaquaria is that they don't have a lot of rare fish in stock, and if they do, they are for breeding purposes and would not be sold

ordering fish 'rare' fish online is quite expensive, and just like you, my dream fish is also a pleco, Royal Pleco ^_^ I would give him his own tank so I can admire his beauty

First off you broke like a thousand make hearts with this post.
Second off you might have to wait for a out of stock fish to get what you really want.

Well the zebra pleco can wait, I want a tank full of them to breed eventually. I really like one I saw in a picture it was all white with black poka dots.

How about a L134? They are my absolute favorite pleco but they are becoming harder and harder to get.

Honestly? ZEBRA PLECO!

Don't waste a $100 limit on $35 worth of fish

And, this guy sounds like quite the catch- pun intended.

ETA: and if you find a place that has them for sale- do let me know.

Everyone wants zebra plecos right? I mean they are one if the coolest looking plecos out there. They rate about a 9 for me but the Leopard frog is 10. It makes a difference when you see them in person.

I don't want to make him spend all the money tho, I feel bad. Even tho he let me loose and told me to send him the link of what I want I really don't think I am actually going to spend the whole hundred. I'm thinking about just having him buy me 10 kuhilI loaches instead. I always feel bad when people spend money on me.

Liveaquaria has zebra plecos for sale right now for $450 each! lol. I think I am going to wait on them anyways because since they are so delicate and the fact that I will not be living in this house too much longer I don't want to kill crazy expensive fish in my move.

I reallyl ike the leopard frog but most of the ones I have seen are up there in the hundreds as well. If I get a rarer pleco I'd probably go ahead and look for a pair. If I find one (or even a pair) for a cheap price I'd get them but I think I only want a cooler looking one for my tank for now. I've also been thinking about an inspector pleco

Petsolutions I believe has them for $40 in stock. It's either them or liveaquaria....

I've seen zebras go for under $200 on aquabid. Just food for thought.

Yeah I know the zebras do, I have been watching them for months! I think the cheapest I ever saw them was $100 a piece but you had to buy atleast 12 I think.

EDIT:

What do you guys think of these. $70 for a pair of double full red cockatoo cichlids.

They'd be going in my 125 but do you think they would fight with the rams and angels that I have? Angels have been following eachother around but I have no idea if they are male and female, rams I was told I had a male and a female. Nothing has spawned or anything yet so I think I'm safe. I have plenty of plant cover and lots of caves.

What about l239 blue panaque? Rougeagent, lexi03, and I have been eyeing a three pack on aquabid for $100. None of us have the money at the moment though.
