What would work with a crab?

Hi, I am just trying to create a new community of fish in my little 75litre tank, we recently had to re-home a clown loach, angelfish & gourami as we found out after 3years that the tank was too small Only thing is we have 1small crab in the tank & I'd really like to keep this. My local fish store said to avoid slow moving & bottom dwelling fish as the crab would eat them... however everything else would be fine??? So would I be able to have a small group of cardinal tetras (5-6), Guppies (5-6) and maybe platys (5)?? Only thing is do tetras sleep near the bottom of the tank? Any help with the no. of fish to have & species that are active, pretty and live happily together would be great as the list above are just a thought???
Thanks

When you say a crab i'm assuming a fiddler crab? I'm not sure if there are any other species of crab kept in fresh water aquariums or not.

If you are talking about a fiddler crab then remember they are brackish crabs and should not be kept in freshwater. I have read of them being kept in freshwater but it does seem that they do not live as long of a life as ones kept in their natural brackish water.

If you have one in a 75 liter tank then you should only have about 1/4 of that as actual water for swimming as the fiddler requires access to dry beach area...most set ups I have seen the tank is filled with sand that piles high on one side and slopes down to the water side.

So to sum it up you would need to have a brackish fish to live in the brackish environment with the crab. And it would def. need to be a fast moving fish. But even that does not ensure success as the male fiddler crabs (one with the big claw) are capable of catching even the quickest of fish.

Its a red-clawed crab. I have a few areas, on top of the filter & a homemade 'bubble retreat' in the tank so he has somewhere to have some dry land time.
Anyone think of any fish species that would be good?

Any fish in your tank has a possibility of being a meal for your crab to be honest.

The fish would need to be brackish. Red-clawed crabs need brackish water created from a marine salt mix.

Definitely not cardinal tetras. They can't live in brackish water. IMO, red-clawed crabs do best in a species tank.
