I have a cycled 5 gallon tank that I am prepping for RCS. Lots of (ugly and half brown) java moss that is infested with hair and thread algae. Will RCS eat this stuff? What kind of algae do they typically eat, and what won't they touch?

Yeah some will eat it but some won't so I'd add in a nerite too just to help them out :]

All i can say is that mine devoured all the rusty brown algae I had in 4 days.

They didn't eat any for me initially. After they reproduced and more than 10x increased their population, they devour everything. I'm not sure if it's the baby guppies or the juvenile shrimp eating my green hair algae.
