What Type Of Whiptail Catfish Do I Have?

I bought a "Common Whiptail Catfish" last week and am curious as to which species it might be. I'm thinking it might be Rineloricaria Lanceolata" but could be wrong. I believe it's also male because "he" has two small "horns" on his face below his eyes.

The first picture is an actual picture, the second is from the internet. My phone does not take very good pictures.

Do the "horns" mean "he" is a he? I read males develope "odontotes" (I don't know if that means "horns") and pectoral spines.

Honestly, I am unsure about that one.
Maybe someone else with the knowledge can tell you.

If your catfish is red/brown, I would guess it's a red lizard whiptail (L010A). I have one and from your picture, yours looks very similar to mine.

He's more of grey with black bands and spots on his fins with two little orangish "horns". The brown is coming from all the tannins in the water plus I edited the picture a little bit to make it pop and easier to see.

The species lanceolata was moved to genus Hemiloricaria, and I don't think your fish looks right for that species. But there are so many Whiptails that look nearly identical that the average aquarist will not be able to positively identify it. You pretty much need a collecting location to narrow down the possible species.
