10 Gallon Tank What Type Of Betta (single) Would Do Best In A Community?

Originally, I planned on a sorority, but that won't happen.

So I have a bunch of females on hand, lol, and two males.

Females: a crowntail, some elephant ears, and some koi females.

Males: not sure what midnight is, maybe a butterfly? his tail is very long and flowy. Then there is the, who I am guessing, is a plakat. His tails aren't as long/flowy as midnight.

Out of all of these, which one, single betta would do better in a community tank with cory cats, rabbit snails, and platys (TBD if we really going with platys, mollies, or someone else)

It sounded like platies are bad in a sorority, but community tank with one betta as opposed to a sorority with multiple bettas has a different dynamic, I'm sure, so I'm hoping it'll change the answer... lol

A betta with short fins or the betta who tolerates the community. Remember it all depends on the personality of the betta some may be fine with it some may not

10 gallons isn't the best for a betta community with other fish. But you can try a short fin bettas as they can swim faster and get there share of food not like a long fin betta. Long finned bettas also have a chance of getting there fins nipped by other fish in the community. You would need a photo for the tail ID.

Yeah, I figured midnight and plakat would be bad candidates, but I always like the chance to learn something new if I mention them!

I'm thinking either my crowntail female or,with what you guys said about fins, the koi ladies are more likely to be safe as opposed to the elephant ears.

Tbh I'm leaning more towards 20 gallon instead of only ten.

Yes a 20 will work much better. Females can work better too but also can be aggressive.

Would she be more or less aggressive if there are multiple females?

For a sorority the bigger the space and the more the females the higher change of success. But there are also some females who are too aggressive for sorority's. I don't know your females so couldn't tell you.

Don't remember where, but I had read somewhere that, in general, multiple bettas keep each other in check... But I can't find that again, so I don't know if I made it up! Lol

Haveing more females just evens out the aggression towards each other. For males that does not work but there are some keepers who have males together on the forum.

If you can get your hands on a wild type imbellis or smaragdina, those would be the best, but they are somewhat rare

I'll put them on my bucket list!
