What Type Of Algae Is On My Stone And Plants?

    I don't know that it will hurt anything, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. And I agree, since its green it kinda looks nice! I would clean it off the plants though.

    I was thinking the same...there are two Crypt leaves, the one in the pic and one on a plant to the left, that is just touching the stones and they are the only parts that have the green algae(?).

    What kind of rock is it and where did you get it? Was it "wild collected?"

    It's a Yamaya stone...I bought it from   in San Francisco...they are inert

    I was just wondering if it had something growing on it before you added it to your tank.

    Ah no. I had emptied my sink and filled it with boiling hot water and a capful of bleach...and let them sit for a few hours, then did it again a couple of days later, then rinsed them in the hottest water my faucet could produce...then let them sit in the sun for 2 days...

    just a possibility. I like the green. All my algae is ugly brown

    My tank is at the end of the ugly brown (diatom) phase...things are starting to go green...
