What To Put In 37gal Tall?

A little while ago I bought a 37 gallon tall tank and accessories. Right now I have a layer of caribsea flora max and black sand on top. I have about a dozen stalks of anacharis and one big leafy plant(not sure what it is). I'm planning on adding more plants soon.

I really have my heart set on putting in a bunch of guppies and some shrimp. But as my tank resides in the living room, it is a matter of many oppinions. I took the liberty of asking everyone in my house(4 other people) what they want to see in it. 2 don't care and 2 really want a community tank. As I let them make their cases I have become much more interested in the idea.

I know I definitely want guppies(favorite since childhood). I was thinking about maybe adding some neon tetras and zebra danios as well. What do you guys think? What other types of fish could I add with guppies?

Personally I live Rummynose Tetras. They school beautifully! What abut:

x8 Rummynoses
x6 Neon Tetras
x8 Guppies
x10 Panda Cories
x1 Albino bristlenose pleco

That sounds like a good idea, but I might substitute the rummynoses with something else tho. I can't get any rummynoses in any of the stores near me and I don't wanna order any fish online because I live in arizona

What are the dimensions of the tank? Zebra danios need a 30"long tank minimum but longer is better since they are so active.

It's 30" × 12" × 22" so I think they should be fine

I just got some white cloud mountain minnows, and I absolutely love them. I didn't think I would, but once I got them in my tank I realized that they are a very underrated fish.

I really love the look of them and a store near me sells them so those would be a really good addition.

Glad I could help! With a dark substrate they almost look purple which is really cool too.

So I think I'm going to do

×10 guppies
×6 neon tetras
×6 gold white cloud mountain minnows
×6 zebra danios
×6 shrimp
And maybe some panda/albino cories

What do you guys think? Is that too much? I really want a variety

Ps. I might not end up getting the neon tetras. At least for awhile because they are more sensitive.

I think that would be quite overstocked.

In a 37 gallon I would recommend sticking to one or 2 mid/top dwelling schools. However if you want 10 guppies then I would just do 1 school.

Also 6 is the bare minimum for a schools. They would be much happier with fewer larger schools than lots of small schools.

How about
×10 guppies
×7 zebra danios or ×7 gold white cloud mountain minnows
×6 shrimp

I really like both the zebra danios and the gold white cloud mountain minnows so I'll probably spend a lot of time deciding on which one I would want/would be better

So I've been doing a lot of reading lately.... What about a betta sorority? I'm planning on adding a lot of plants to the tank so there would be plenty of coverage and hiding places. There's enough room for a betta sorority in a 37 gallon. My main concern would be the fact that the tank is taller. Do you guys think that would be an issue?

It all depends on whether you can have a backup plan for the bettas if it does not work. Do you have a bunch of extra tank you can put them in??

I have a spare 5 gallon with some plants in it and I can always split my ten gallon in half to add a second betta. If I do decide to do the betta sorority then I would get another 10 gallon to split. So that gives me places to put 6 fish if necessary. (2 bettas in split 37, 1 betta in 5 gallon, 2 bettas in extra split 10 gallon, and 1 betta in my existing 10 gallon).
