Hello ,Soon I'll be upgrading to a 40 gallon Tank(Which I will be posting on here) and i'm fairly new to this.I am planning to get the following fish and have been wondering what do they eat?

-8 to 10 KhulI Loaches
-2 Angels
-3 Amano shrimp
-8-10 Cherry barbs
-8-10 Harlequin Rasboras

I have only kept a variety of barbs.Do these fish all eat the same? Can I feed them flakes or do I need frozen bloodworms for some of them?

Flakes or pellets should be fine, and the shrimp can fare on pellets formulated for shrimp or other crustaceans. However, there's nothing wrong with adding variety to their diets. As supplements or treats (not to be used as staple diets), you can give them bloodworms, brine shrimp, and more (just be sure it's safe for the fish). For freeze-dried foods, make sure to soak the food in water first for at least 10 minutes, so that the air bubbles trapped inside won't cause your fish to become bloated. Hope this helps!

Algae wafers would probably be taken as treats for the shrimp and other fishes as well.

IMO 2 angels wouldnt be good in a 40. Especially not good with 2 schooling fish. The cherry barbs will nip at the angels as well. bizaliz3 angels in 40. TexasDomer for stocking ideas

I think 40 gallons is an ok size for two angels. I suggest you get them when they are quarter sized or smaller and let them grow up together. There is always a chance of aggression with angels at some point down the road. So be prepared for the possibility. But that doesn't always happen. They could get along fine for life, or they could turn on eachother one day. You just never know. If they were to pair up and spawn, that would pose other challenges for you I suppose....but if you get them small, you wouldn't have to worry about that for a long time. And that is really nothing but a "what if" at this point.

I agree that two schools along with two angels might get a bit crowded. I would suggest sticking with just the Harlequin rasboras. They make great tank mates for angels.

I would stick with just 1 for any gourami unless its blue, sparkling, pearl (idk if I forgot any) they can be quite aggressive to each other

All of those. They do better on varied diets. I'm other sure what is available to you by near me they have a combination frozen food for omnivore that would work well.

Just don't overfeed. To make life easy I would use flake for the most part and mix up the rest and use them once or twice a week.

The pleco may eat driftwood, vegetables, and would benefit from sinking wafers.

Be very careful not to overfeed!

Honey gourami are very peaceful with each other and other fish, You can keep a male and 2 or three females together. Cherry barbs are fine with gourami or angels and don't nip fins ,and are very peaceful. As far as the clown pleco goes , he should have a piece of real driftwood in the tank for him to rasp on as it aids in their digestion. I wrote a post on feeding BN plecos but the same would also apply to your clown pleco. It is on the third page of the thread Pleco!! share yours. and was also reprinted on page 16. It gives you lots of info , hints and ideas. I feed thawed frozen bloodworms and thawed frozen brine shrimp once a week for each one, as well as flakes, shrimp pellets, algae wafers which I alternate with bottom feeder wafers. It is amazing the variety of fruits and veggies that you can feed your pleco who should have fresh veggie or fruit available 24/7....Alison
