What To Feed Baby Shrimp? [australia]

So my RCS have started breeding properly, and there's at least 8 with eggs on the way.

I've got a heavily planted, established 55G and there are babies in there. What substance, if any, should I add for the young?

Note, am in Australia... so products are limited from what I can see.

They primarily eat biofilm and algae, so if it is an established tank, they should be fine. I've noticed they can eat pelleted food after an hour or so, once it softens up a great deal

Ok, cool. I drop in API Shrimp Pellets and algae wafers and they're a big hit with all the inhabitants. The babies stick to the rear plants and seem to be doing ok - once they get to 2-3mm long they are venturing out onto the driftwood/decorations and into the java moss.

HI from London!
GlasGarten Bacter ae was recommended to me when my shrimp started breeding. It helps build a nice coat of biofilm that all the shrimp will enjoy and helps in that the babies don't have to find/compete for the pellets etc in what must seem an enormous tank to them.
Have a search on here and you'll see it mentioned a lot. Could you get it in Australia on Amazon or Ebay? Oh and all ages LOVE a Cholla Wood log if you can get a piece of that too.
Hope this helps!

I wouldnt add any extra for baby shrimp whatever your feeding now should be enough.

I use Bacter AE as well as magnolia, persimmon, oak, or Indian almond leaves and cholla wood to create sustainable biofilm and infusoria for babies to eat. Having plenty of moss helps.

Mine loved to eat organic matter, didn't have to be Indian Almond Leaves, they enjoyed Mulberry, loquat and oak leaves to name a few.

Theres also a few aussie ebay sellers (and on aussie shrimp related groups) that sell things like 'shrimp snow', hay pellets and other shrimp related goodies.

Mine also enjoy snacking on veggies, particularly if blanched. Also enjoy unseasoned rice and some veggies (like rockmelon) as well. Bloodworms, fish flake (and other fishy prepared foods) are also readily eaten.

They honestly will eat anything tbh.

I'm a big fan of the betta food that's like a fine red sprinkle or micro granules type. I've been using 'vita pet' (marine master) but I think most brands are pretty similar. Shrimp love it, but it also keeps my ramshorn snails really healthy with no shell erosion, so I assume it contains a good amount of calcium too.
