I got a BN pleco a few days ago. I put in a piece of wood for him and bought algae discs but my little piggy cories eat them before the pleco gets a chance. I know you're supposed to feed vegies too but not sure what. I've heard cucumber, zucinni, and yams. Do they need to be cooked at all and how do I get them to stay at the bottom? Can they they eat regular lettuce? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

cucumber and zucinI are good- I poke holds in mine so they sink faster.
I feed a common pleco- so maybe someone else will jump in here about specific foods for a BN pleco

I know some feed certain fresh fruits (I don't know which ones are good/bad off the top of my head)- but beware because many of these will disrupt your water conditions

I was in my lfs the other day (the good one I trust) and one of the pleco tanks had chunks of potato in it and the other had slices of apple, the fish were swarming over both.

Not sure about the potato myself with the startches in it I must ask them about that the next time I am in.

lettuce works just fine, you can buy a veggie clip to attach them to, or you can just tie them to a flat rock or something like that

g'day,

I have a bn pleco and I feed him ordinary flakes as well as vegie flakes. I also give him cucumber which he loves. all you have to do is just put the slice in a bowl of boiling water and blanch it. that way the air comes out and it sinks to the bottom, it also helps if you poke it a bit as well.

hope that helps.

regarding bn plecos, i've heard that they need wood to eat, but what type of wood??

cheers!
