What to do with extra tanks?

So since we moved the betta to the 5gal, I have a 3g and a 3.5g "halfmoon" tank from topfin. In the 3gal, there is a mystery snail, and a black racer nerite and an el nino fern. In the 3.5, is a couple rocks and a capatta leaf. The betta has plants, and a small lighting nerite. All three tanks running a sponge filter with airstones, except 3.5, no airstone.

I am wondering what I could do with the extra two tanks. I don't think I should add anything to the 5gal, except a couple more plants. If i was to add a fish, what kind? Betta is a bit nippy sometimes w the snail.

There was a cool small female betta for $3.99 I saw yesterday, but neither of the 3gals are really set up yet. She was maybe 3/4".

Should I add some shrimps and couple more nerites to the one with the two snails? They both definitely need plants. If the 3.5 was heavily planted, would a pea puffer work?

I dont know which way to go. Please give me ideas and suggestions! Pics appreciated!

I also have two other tanks, plastic 2.5 and maybe 1gal I can use for quarantine/med if needed.

Shrimp probably the best bet, though a betta could work in those smaller tanks eapecially if you find like a rosetail betta or something else with big fins/tail. Double-tail bettas spring to mind. I wouldn't add any more nerites, too small to feed 2 of them, since they are pretty notorious for not eating prepared foods.

I think I’d go with shrimp around a centerpiece plant. Find something nice that grows out of the water and have a nice houseplant :)

Could also use one as a quarantine/hospital tank, if nothing else.

I only put females in 3-3.5 gallon tanks. Males need 5 gallons as you have achieved with your male. A female Betta could go in the 3.5, just make sure add lots of live plants and that it is cycled. For the 3 gallon you could make it a breeding shrimp tank, or possibly put Chili rasboras in there. Maybe 5-6. But shrimp would love that tank and probably work best.

I don't know a lot about pea puffers, so I can't answer that question.

BTW, if you are looking to not spend $10 per tiny live plant, I buy my plants from BucePlant.com. they have amazing plants and very very good prices. And they give me extra (I ordered a golf ball portion of mini x-mas moss for $7 and they gave me a x-mas moss ball the size of a softball! Great plants.

You know FL has a lot of members that sell plants and they are not expensive. B/S/T/F forum. :)

I wouldn't put a short finned betta in that small of a tank as they tend to move around faster and more in general. And most female bettas tend to be shorter finned, hence why i mentioned big-finned bettas. But i have only kept a dozen+ bettas in all sizes of tanks and they lived comfortably for multiple years, so what do i know...

All the plants in that tank were $3 or less. My local lfs has some nice ones, good size, decent price. I worry about having something shipped here, we are in the hot time of year with 110° and higher temps.

I don't have any suggestions, just wanted to say I LOVE the colors on your Betta! ( ◜‿◝ )♡

Thx. I'm not sure what he is. He was listed as male halfmoon. Sometimes he's bluish like MustardGas, other times he's copper or "fancy gold" as I've seen.

Pick up this tiny crowntail girl the other day at Petsmart. They had sold the blue and white marble one I wanted, and she was pretty feisty in her cup. She is settling into the 3gal tank now. I still want to add more plants to it. She has not bothered RacerX, the boring Nerite snail.

edit: With my rewards points, she was $0.50

And this lurker...he saw her in the tank when I put her in and he went a little nuts. I had to block off the side of his tank that faces her so he couldn't see. He has been stalking the corner since then... Also I think I feed him to much.

Get little shrimps for aesthetic purposes, the smaller ones can be used for feeding your fish too, you can use them for Brine shrimp cultures and the like. You can also store feeder fish until they are fed to your fish. Maybe try to breed fish and use them as fry tank too some day?
