so i purchased 2 ramshorn snails several weeks back and they instantly left clutches.. one of my Bolivian rams killed one of the originals. BUT, i do have some babies and want to know what to do what them? i dont want an overpopulation as ive purchased 2 nerite snails to better clean the algae. i can put them in an uncycled 1 gallon jar? i could crush them and feed them to my fish (i dont know if i have the will power to do that). any ideas? i could put them in other tanks too as well.

Don't overfeed and they won't overpopulate. I wouldn't worry about it.

The uncycled jar should be fine. Mine are in a 2.5 gallon jar. Once a month I do a 100% water change. This is the only way to get the massive amount of poop they produce out. I stir it up while doing my weekly water change but can't get all of it out of there. I don't run an actual filter in this jar but do run an airstone inserted into a prefilter sponge. I have no substrate in the jar. I do have guppy grass in there, a few twigs for them to climb on and phothos roots fill up about half of the jar.

okay sweeet, i can totally do the same with an air stone in a small sponge filter. thank you! do i need to worry that my tap has .50ppm ammonia in it? or should i add tank water from an established tank?

I would start them out with ammonia free tank water. When you do your water changes and change out half the water in the jar with your tap water you will only be raising the jar's ammonia level up to .25 Plants in the jar should help remove it.

I finally added some plants after doing my first WC on it. I think it’s interesting to look at and feed them veggies.

Lol I have 3 tanks and a 16g bin all with snails I dont feed the snails at all. Which is crazy but I started with 7 snails around the time I purchased the shrimp from you. And I now have atleast 50 snails in my 20long. About 25-30 rams horn and bladder snails in my 10g. I have about 10-15 in my 1.5g shrimp tank which also has a baby black molle lol it was a surprise from the 20g lol. And the 16g bin has maybe 40 mixed snails in it. Which I dont feed them either lol. I have had to start gravel vacing all of my tanks. The 10g I do touch up cleanings to it just removing what droppings I can see but the 20g I'm going to start doing a big gravel vac once or twice a week. But my 20 still isnt cycled. I had a week were the ammonia levels stayed at 0. But since I got the shrimp from you the ammonia levels sit around .25-.50ppm. I am going to try seeing if gravel vacuuming will help lower the levels. But idk why it's not cycled. I'm careful not to over feed my fish. I do add bacter ae and shrimpfit and baby shrimp to the tank but I do the same thing to my 1.5 and it doesn't affect the cycle in that tank.
