So I got some plants about 2 weeks ago and I didn't wash them very well because my brain was like "all I could get are snails right??????'' Well I got snails and I like them (but jeez they breed like crazy) but today I found this guy and I'm overly paranoid. Is this guy safe for my tank? Will he breed like crazy? What the heck even is he and what is he eating?! So yeah if anyone knows I would appreciate if you could tell me. I'll see if I can get a better photo but he's so tiny! Oh and my sister found another one but accidentally squished it. Thanks!!!

Ahh yeah thats a damselfly larvae/nymph. It can eat smaller fish, so best put it back outside. Any pond is fine but dont kill it, they are good for the environment for mosquito control

Do you think they could attack 3/4 inch long fish? Sorry for all the questions!

They can potentially, so its best to be safe and remove them. Dragonfly nymphs ars more dangerous as theyre larger and can eat fish larger than them, but damselfly larvae are smaller...

Best bet is to quarantine the plants for a few days or weeks before adding it to a main aquarium, or doing a bleach solution dip to kill any potential hitch hikers.
