What smaller fish are compatible with BRPC's?

Hey everyone! Right now I'm planning my 55 gallon tank & before I begin to cycle it, I'm trying to decide exactly what my stock is going to be. I'm a complete beginner but I've done a lot of research. I've decided I definitely want my "centerpiece" fish to be a BRPC, with lots of schooling fish to go with him. I love BRPC because they're so sweet & interactive, but also fun to observe. Anyways I'm completely aware that I can only keep one in a 55 gal.

So what fish are big enough that the BPRC wouldn't devour them, and small enough that I won't overstock? Plus how many of each? I'd like to have maybe 2 smaller schools of fish opposed to 1 big school. Okay thank you, I'm open to everyone's suggestions

Hi,

Giant Danios were one of my favorite schooling fish to put with BPs. Blackskirt Tetras and Bleedingheart Tetras will be large enough to avoid BPs. Personally I'd go with one large school of schooling fish instead of two schools. A nice school of 15 would look pretty good with a BP. You could then get some sort of active bottom dweller like Yo-yo loaches.

Hello and
welcomerainbow.gif to Fish Lore!

I hope you enjoy the site! I have a feeling once you have 1 Bloody Parrot, you're going to want more and a bigger aquairum! I've never kept smaller species, other than Cory Cats, with my Bloody Parrots. They got along very well.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I have kept Giant danios with my blood parrots as well as corydoras and hatchets. Also I have kept tiger barbs. A large school of green tiger barbs looks awesome in a tank. And in a 55 gallon with only 1 blood parrot you would be able to get at least 10 tiger barbs and even some cories.
