So, I'm planning on getting a 29 gallon tank in September, and I am really looking forward to getting a smaller pleco for it. However, I have no clue what type of pleco I want... So, I would greatly appreciate any pics of smaller plecos that you guys have, so I can start thinking about what pleco I want. Also, prices would be awesome, if you guys feel okay with telling me that:)
Wow me!

I just picked up this little guy yesterday. It’s a bristlenose pleco, which will probably get between 4-5 inches at full size. They usually develop the bristles on top of their head eventually. This is one of the smaller types of plecos, you could probably keep 2 in a 29 gal.

So, my suggestion is a bristlenose pleco, 5 inches, only an inch longer than the smallest commonly available pleco. (The clown pleco) Here is one when he fell asleep in his cave and accidentally fell off and landed in the sand:

When he saw algae in a breeder box in my tank and came out of the water to get in it (Somehow!?!?!?):

The smallest pleco that I know exists is the mini snowball pleco, expensive and rare, but only 2.5 inches long.

Though a similar alternative to plecos are reticulated hillstream loaches. Awesome fish, despite what online sources say (And people on here who've not kept them before) they can be kept in temperatures of 78 degrees, live singularly, and without high flow, I have had mine for more than half a year now with no problems and people such have had success with them in said conditions. The former even breeding them there. Some pics:

Ya, I was thinking BN at first, but I wanted to see more options. I know there are some really pretty plecos out there.
I really want a female Longfin blue eyed Lemon BN, They look really pretty. I have found I'm not a huge fan of the bristles on the males, but I realized that If I got used to Rabbit snails, I can get used to the bristles lol.

I'm not a fan of the bristles on the males either, but I think the females are really pretty. I'm pretty much a fan of ALL plecos, but can definitely vouch for the algae eating talents of the bristlenose.

That's how mine use to look. He is quite bigger! I've had him maybe 8 months.

I had a clown pleco for 11 years, he was less then 2 inches. a dwarf among dwarfs perhaps? I use to see him almost anytime a sat or waited in front of the tank for more than 2 minutes. My new clown pleco that i have had for a year stays hidden a lot. I see him once in a blue moon but he seems to be doing well. I could not find the picture, sorry.

I had a pair of BNs in a 29. They seemed big for the tank, but that's my esthetics, not a comment on whether they can be kept in a 29. It should be fine. The male got over 6" and the female was 5" Once they became adults, I rarely saw them. They lived to be 9 and 10 years old. Here's the female on one of her rare daylight apperences. I now have 2 of their daughters in the 29. They were the runts of a litter and have maxed out at 3", which is a nice size. Which brings up another point. Don't get both sexes if you do not want to deal with rehomeing dozens and dozens of plecos.
