What Size Tank Is This And Is It Worth Salvaging?

Hello all. So outside my apartment complex is this tank (pictured) below, sitting beside the dumpster areas. It has one crack going lengthwise from corner to corner. Do you all think it's worth trying a silicone repair job and salvaging it? I currently have a 20 long tank and am in the market to upgrade to a 55 gallon.I'm not sure what size this tank might be. It looks a bit longer than a 20 long, definitely deeper than a 20 long and definitely taller than a 20 long. Any input would be appreciated.

what are the dimensions?

It's a reptile terrarium tank, so the glass would not be thick enough to hold water.

No idea on the dimensions I just walked by and snapped a few pics. I can tell it's been used for reptiles, lot's of tanks are sold as multi-use these days however. Then again looking closer it does look like the lid is specifically built for a slide in screen top.

It looks like a 40 breeder terrarium, which runs about $100 new. The problem is that the terrariums are not made to hold water, they use a much thinner glass making them easier to move for cleaning. An aquarium of that size will weigh two to three times more because the glass needs to be so thick. It's not something you could patch and use for an aquarium, but you could always clean it up and sell it on local classifieds for a few bucks. Cracking doesn't matter so much for reptiles, so long as the tank is completely secure against escapes.

Thanks all. I'll probably let the garbage man collect it. I went back out to look at it and it's glass was definitely much thinner glass compared to my tanks. Thought I might have had a bizarre stroke of luck a couple days after deciding I'm going to upgrade! oh well....the search continues

If you're looking for a 40 gallon breeder, I just got mine at Petco the other day for half off because of their sale going on, so it was only $50!

Ah, the amount of tanks I've picked up off the side of the road lol. Too many to count, made quite a bit of $$ off them too. I have had some with thinner glass before, but would say you need at least 4mm -5mm think, or they tend to bow anyway. It might be the reason it cracked in the first place, but even if it was thick enough I don't think I'd bother repairing it -it's more worth your while to pick something up second hand off gumtree etc. rather than find it leaking later if the repair doesn't hold
