I am putting together a new 65 gal Freshwater tank.

I'm looking for plant suggestions that will provide a lush background (tall) and others that can provide a dense foreground. I plan to have Amazon Swords and Kleiner Bar in the 'mid' area.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Jungle Vals would fill the back in very nice. Bacopas are quick growers and would fill in various areas of the tank and they propagate easily so you can cut them just below where stems shoot out and they will fill your tank in nicely. Just a couple suggestions.

Crypt spiralis grows pretty tall. Rotala Indica grows nice and tall too, and pretty quick in my experience.

Also forgot to mention an anubis and a java fern or 2 on that nice piece of driftwood will make it pop!

Italian val is has more narrow leaves, but I use val jungle rubra for my tall tanks. I have a 26" with val rubra for the background, amazon sword for the midground, melon swords and dwarf sag in the foreground.

The taller plants in my 24" deep tank are mostly plants from Africa like crinum natans, aponogenton crispus, and also val rubra. I have red tiger lotus and crypt spiralis for the midground and crypt wendtiI mostly in the foreground mixed with stargrass. Crypt wendtiI is not a tall plant at 4"-6" in my tanks, but it grows easily and takes up a lot of space in a bigger tank. If a wendtiI plant gets too tall/ big for the foreground, I transplant it further back, but it takes a while for mine to grow that big.
