What Plants And Where To Get

I'm having a ton of fun with this cool 25g I found I have a natural looking brown and tan Rock bottom and a nice variety of fish going a couple medium driftwood pieces. And big rocks. I want to find a large natural looking cave and add a ton of live plants. I have never had luck with floating plants or hornwort. I have a pretty string llighting unless I find a floating top cover plant that doesn't die in my filter. Temp is around 78. I have tetras and a bn pleco as well as some rcs. What's hardy and suitable for my tank and fish? Where do you recommend buying it and how do I make it safe to put in my tank?

So, I would need to know you’re lighting, if you’re dosing, and if you’re using soil, aquarium gravel, sand, etc. I know you said tan rocks but not sure if that is plant rocks or just gravel.

If this is the case and you don’t have plant lighting, your choices are pretty slim. Anubis is a good choice for a low tech tanks. Java fern and amazon swords. The swords should have some kind of root fertilizer like root tabs or proper soil.

The lighting is aqueon led. It seems to be brighter and stronger than my other led hood for my 55 but beyond that I'm not sure. it's aquarium gravel. I have used tabs with success several years ago (I think I had jungle Val?) It reproduced and grew rather quickly. I'm ok if I need to add fertilize/root tabs or a little extra care but I don't think I would be interested in completely swapping substrate or something. I would rather leave my fish be than go through that process.

Root tabs are good way to keep the gravel. The aqueon lighting is more then likely not a good light source for plants but can’t be sure without knowing the parameters of the light. In this case, stay with low light plants and any rooted plants, add root tabs.

I always get my plants from my local fish store, even a pet store. Always make sure you rinse them and spray the with one part water and one part hydrogen peroxide to kill off any pests.

Ok I was able to look into the hood and only low light plants were recommended. Any mosses or cover type growth I could try? With the peroxide do I just rinse it off after then I'm good to go? My local fish store usually has tons of snails in the plants

Yes, just rinse them off. Java moss will grow in low light. Any carpet plants typically need high light to grow.
