I bought this from a pet store and it was marked as a sword. I cannot get it to grow. It won’t take up roots in the eco-complete. It was plates in a basket with foam and I planted it but it Would not root.

I'm not sure why I said Melon Sword yesterday...must have been looking at it with my phone. It's definitely not a Melon. The leaves are pointy rather than rounded like a Melon. But, a Sword it is! Enjoy!

It looks like a sword to me. Do the leaves look like long spoons? I think that's a normal sword indicator. I would say to give it time.
As an example; I planted a small amazon Sword in one of my tanks in November, it melted back, looked awful, roots even melted back. It was only maybe 2 inches tall. It took months to finally settle in. Now it looks like this: and the roots race across most of the bottom of my tank. It's taken a hit recently because of meds but I think if you give yours some time & TLC it will grow!

Looks kind of like a Melon Sword to me. Swords can be really difficult. Make sure to use root tabs! I recommend ThriveCaps.

It's definitely à sword. Not sure about the variant but essentially in my opinion it's an easy plant to grow. I have one in my low tech aquarium. It's definitely a background plant as it grows quite big. It'll grow long roots so make sure it has space for its root system. Root tabs for all stem plants are a plus. Tropical temperatures and medium lights will allow the plant to grow. In low tech it will grow slowly but at a constant pace but any slow grower will be prone to algae so watch for that. I give my plants 8 hours of light every day. My low tech tank is fertilised once a week.
