I don't have conditioner available and I want to know what other ways are there to dechlorinate water.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think there is any easy way to get chlorine out of water unless you use a water conditioner such as Seacheam prime.

I think you'll have to get some at a LFS or any where they sell water conditioners that are safe for fish.

Ok, I'll have to find some online and wait to ship

Pretty sure you can just leave your water out overnight and the chlorine will gas off

I am not saying you have to buy some thing I am just saying I don't know anything else that will get rid of the chlorine from the water.

You have to find out if your water processing plant uses chlorine or chloramine. Chlorine off-gasses, so after 24 hours of sitting out the water is safe. Chloramine is much more stable and a dechlor product like Prime needs to be used. Many places have switched over to chloramine.

I don't think that the chlorine will gas off but you are welcome to try. if it could gas off I don't think people would buy water conditioners in the first place.

Chlorine will dissipate if you leave the water out (overnight might not be long enough) but chloramine will not. You need to find out which one is used to process your water. You may be able to find this information online, or you can call whoever’s in charge of your local water-processing plant and ask.

Swimming pools use chlorine and I don't think they have to replace the chlorine every day.

lol come on dude there's a pretty obvious difference between gassing off very high concentrations of chlorine from 25,000 gallons in a pool vs gassing off very small quantities of chlorine in a few buckets of water.

or the people have a tiring job to replace it every day because they have nothing else to do in their free time.

I always recommend an airstone in the bucket to speed up the chlorine outgassing. Unfortunately, these days it is necessary to check with your water source to find out if they are using chloramines, as those are meant to stay in solution longer. My water source is a well, so I haven't had that concern for decades now.

Actually, yeah. You have to keep chlorine pellets in the pool water at all times or the concentration dips too low which allows for bacterial growth. It costs a fortune in chlorine to properly maintain a large pool.

Well,I meant they don't have to constantly add chlorine ever hour of the day to maintain the chlorine.

Check your city’s website for water quality standards. Like many above have said chlorine WHILE dissipate over a period of 24 hours from regular tap water. However, chloramine will not and a water conditioner will be required.

Yep, just got back from petco with some conditioner. Really didn't want to have to go there because of the cruelty i've seen there.

Wanna bet, maintaining pool chlorination is a daily job trust me. I have worked in and around pools for 30 plus years. The enemy of chlorine is sunlight, heat, and people. free chlorine is readily off gassed from water, that's why when you go to an indoor pool you smell chlorine in the air.

I have to use a conditioner, because leaving it out and an airstone wasn't enough to bring it down. It was small concentration to start with but I want to knock it back to 0.

Surprisingly my local petco treats their fish and reptiles right. I think a big reason is because the manager is a coral frag breeder and she also breeds lots of freshwater fish also separately from the store so yeah.

petco and petsmart near me always have ich, ich victims, ich deaths, snails, ich-covered fish that are treading water and/or gasping at the surface of the tank, and almost all the fish are lethargic.ead::inpain::wideyed_O:yuck:ead:
