What Other Types Of Goldfish Can I Put In My Pond?

HI all,

I currently have a 60 gallon rigid fiberglass pond liner that I use to keep two comets (an orange one and a yellow one). I was wondering what else I could add to the pond in terms of types of goldfish. I know 60 gallons is pretty small but these guys are still very small as well (only 2-3"). They will be moving into a 150-200 gallon pond that I will build in the spring.

I was thinking of adding a shubunkin. I know these guys don't get as big as the comets, but that they are very similar in most other characteristics since they are considered commons as well. Are there any other types of goldfish that I could put into this pond? I am trying to get a variety of species or colour.

P.S. It would have to be able to survive Toronto winters (cold and snowy).

I think a shubunkin is a good idea. I think they can get close to the same size since they are common goldfish. I love their coloring. I thought I had lucked out and got two but the black ended up leaving. They are at least orange and white which is pretty.

I love shubunkins! I have 8 at the minute in one of my ponds. There are different types (Bristol, London, American/Japanese). The American Japanese shubunkin is pretty much a calico comet and the London shubunkin is pretty much a calico common. For now I would only add 1 or maybe 2 before they move to a bigger pond.

I guess a shubunkin will be the way to go for now If anyone knows of any other types that they could possibly keep in a pond, do let me know. But for the season (until the bigger pond comes in), I'll keep it to these 3. Thank you for the help!

New with goldfish . We have a 90 gallon , with comets but am looking to get shubunkins , hoping to setup a pond this summer .
We are in Hastings , but think we will have to bring fish in out of pond each winter .
Thinking of 150 gal pond . if they are left inside how big can I expect them to grow

Hi, welcome to the forum
Since this thread is a bit older now, I would just start your own thread in the same section to get responses. In the upper right hand corner of the forum you should see "new thread" or similar.
