What Not To Feed Guppies?

Just a quick question.

I love feeding my guppies plenty of veg and some protein as a replacement for flake food every so often.

I know guppies aren't fussy eaters, and mine aren't foe the most part, but is their any food to avoid feeding them entirely because it's toxic or unhealthy?

Also, what unusual guppy food would you reccomend, and how often?

(I've tried ham, lettuce, pea and shop bought live foods but looking for fun and healthy alternatives. Usual diet is tropical flakes)

Ham??? That makes me think of Ponyo! Hmm, I would've thought that the nitrates/nitrites in the ham wouldn't be a good idea :0

Terrestrial protein is not easily digested by fish, so I'd avoid "land meats" like ham. If you're going to feed your fish house food, use seafood. Frozen shrimp, chopped into tiny pieces, can work.

endlercollector junebug thanks so much for your advice! I've read several places online that say land foods like ham, chicken and even beef were ok for guppies, but I guess you can't always trust what you read

I will feed seafood to them then thanks so much!

Agree, cheap seafood is the best idea if you are going to use non-aquarium foods products. Terrestrial protein seems to work well enough for true carnivorous fish but shrimp and fish is a better idea for guppies IMO.
