Hello everyone, I am going to the store today and I need to restock on veggies for my fish. I have a schoal of Kuhli loaches and a mystery snail. I am already getting, spinach, cucumber, and carrots. I want to get lettuce as well but I'm not sure what kind to give them, could you tell what kinds of lettuce is best for them. Also what other veggies can I get them. Thank you for your advice.

The loaches should be fed more protein rich diet like different worms and crustaceans. They are not herbivorous.

I know, they are omnivores, I am just wondering what lettuce I should get them. I just finished giving them some brine shrimp after writing this. They get plenty of worms and crustaceans. They eat vegetables as well and I just want to make sure I'm getting them the best type of lettuce for them.

Good. Made a different impression. You won't believe what some people are adamant to feed their fish exclusively.

I avoid lettuce, usually much to much fertilizers and pesticides. Otherwise the variety doesn't matter, as long as it's organic. Lettuce is just cellulose and water. Nutritional value is zero, maybe except some minerals. The easier you can make it palatable to the fish the better.

What I would try in your place: Shred some lettuce, freeze it with some insect larvae, defrost it and feed that mix. Should make for a good replication of their natural diet.

Also try some leaf litter, I find this is a really good plant based addition to any fishes diet.

Romaine. We use a lettuce clip and the herbivore fish like to munch it.
