What kinds of angel fish colors are there?

HI all,

My boyfriend have been wanting to get a pair of angels for our 55 gallon tank. Now that it may be coming to fruition soon, I was hoping to look at all the different color patters online with him, so we can choose which one we like best. However, all the websites I visit only have half a dozen or so varieties, and none include some of the ones I've been interested in. My google-searching actually turned up an old FishLore thread, but again, there weren't very many types of angels listed.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you all list the varieties you know of? I'll edit this post to keep a running list. If you could also supply a picture, that would be super neat, then this could turn in to a reference thread of sorts.

Thanks a bunch!

Here are the few I'm familiar with, though I'm not certain proper names were used. I'll add pictures later (for now, descriptions).

Colors:
-- Domestic silver (silver with black stripes)
-- Double Dark (shiny black)
-- Marble (silver with black marbling)
-- Gold (mostly silver with gold on the head)
-- Gold marble (same as Gold, but with black marbling)
-- Pearlscale (any color, but shiny pearlescent scales)
-- Koi (white with orange and black spots)
-- Platinum (bright silver)
-- Blue marble (blue with black marbling)
-- Leopard
-- Half black (half black, half silver)

Fin types:
-- Veil tails (longer caudal and analfins) (post #5)
-- Wide fins (wider caudal fins) (post #6)

I know there are others like Pinoy, Phillipine, Paraiba, etc, but those didn't come up in my search and I'm afraid there are other awesome ones I'm missing.

Koi's are my favorite! Tied pretty closely with the darker Marbles. As much as I like darker fish, I love the ones that really pop out at you with out being obnoxiously colorful.

There are also Zebra's, Blushing.... My brain can't think of anymore. I know what they are, but I can't think of them >.<

I suppose it would help if I made a list of the ones I'm familiar with first Though I'm not sure the names were listed quite correctly and everything. I'll be editing the first post shortly...

Thanks for the pictures, guys!

Shayla, could you post a link to where you found those pictures? Don't want to run in to any copyright problems

Matt, I was familiar with veiltails, but not the widefins; those are neat!

I have to run now unfortunately but I'll update the list at the top. For pictures that members post, I think I'll just put a link to each post with the pictures (if that makes sense).

Leopard and Half-black are two I can think of off the top of my head.

Can they not be posted with credit given either? It'll be hard to find members who own every type of angelfish! Can people still post the link to the picture?

Thanks for the pictures, Cichlidnut! I'll update the list this evening.

Good afternoon,

Simply giving credit for the photos will no longer suffice.

Please post links if you can't provide photos that you have personally taken.

In case anyone is curious, I found this website:

Each thread has many pictures, and they're all huge and very clear. Ken Kennedy has quite a few threads!

I think this one is gorgeous:
