I bought this little guy today for my 29 gallon. I have never seen a pleco like this. He has white spots all over him and he has 2 sets of "antennae" on his head and spines along both of his sides. Help! I want to know what this cool looking guy is!

I don't think it's a pleco. There are many different sucker mouth catfish out there that aren't plecos.

is it even a plec is the question. maybe a snowball plec? it looks really skinny even for a plec and the whiskers are odd they are whiskers and not barbels right do they come off the top of is mouth or bottom? it could be one of these plecos i think it might be related to the angel catfish very much so. he still looks emaciated for a catfish but who knows?

I searched the snowflake pleco and thats definately not it. Mine has spines all down his sides. Other than that, and his "antennae", he looks like a regular pleco...

I'm guessing he's not a pleco, but with over 300 L #'s, I could be wrong.

Could you get a side picture and a picture of his face?

He may possibly be a megalodoras uranoscopus. Check out the link below and tell us what you think.

I have searched and searched, and I think I have finally come up with a conclusion, and please correct me if I am wrong. I think it is a spotted raphael catfish.

BB, I will try to get a pic of his face, as soon as he comes out of hiding. lol

He makes a kind of croaking sound when i catch him in the net. Does this mean he is not a spotted raphael?

No, they're the same. Thats just the name I know them by. BTW, you shouldnt use a net on him, he'll get stuck and then you'd have to cut him out (my dad did that with ours.... ruined the net too, but I fixed it with thread and a needle. Hurray for being cheap!)

He is currently in a 10 gallon, but will eventually be rehomed to a 29 gallon when he starts to get bigger.

I do pwc's every other day, and gravel vacs once a week (with 50% water change), and test my water about 3-4 times a week.
