Hi, fairly new fish-owner here hoping for some advice: I have been fighting a strange sort of algae (if that is what it is) for quite a while now. I have no idea what it is, and even after consulting the good ol´ internet none of the algae I have seen pictures of seem to fit the one I have in my aquarium. It mainly seems to grow between the tiny rocks at the bottom of the tank in little round sphere-like patches, almost like a moss-like substance. I can handle it easily enough, I just roll the rocks together in my hand and the algae forms a little ball that I can throw away but it is starting to get a bit tirering to do every week. I would really like to know what I am dealing with here.

It´s very "thick" and soft to the touch. Kinda like a mix between fur and moss.

The only moss-like plants I have in my aquarium are marimo moss-balls.

Ah, might be time to give my substrate a good scrubbing/vacuuming then - thank you!
