What is your snail/recommendation for 55 gallon?

I have a Nerite snail in 3 of my tanks. I love their colors and design, but they also seem to be skittish and like to bury themselves in the sand often. I'd like to add some snails to my 55 gallon South American tank. There is 1 Nerite in their now, but I'm open to other types.

What is your favorite snail/recommendation?
Why?
Would it be ok with mid-size South/Central American Cichlids (Acaras, Bolivians, Rainbows, Firemouth)?
What does it's diet consist of?

I am liking my mystery snail pretty well. Seems to eat whatever flakes the fish miss.

They look pretty cool. Do they do much from a biolode/excrement standpoint? Edit: Meaning, do they produce much?

Yeah i seem to see a lot of snail poo when i do my gravel vacs. Not really any worse than with my nerites.

I like my mystery snails too. They come in great colors and they are always moving around the tank. A lot easier to pick out than my nerites. They get fairly large too, so they should be ok for medium sized cichlids. They can get up to two inches in diameter.
I don't have room for them yet, but Rabbit Snails are at the top of my list for my next planted tank. They can come in really cool colors too. They have a long spiral shell.

Malaysian Trumpet snails are supposed to work in a cichlid tank, because they spend most of the daylight hours buried in the substrate. They come out at night to clean everything. But if you are looking for non-skittish, these probably aren't that

I like mystery snails mostly because you can see their features easily but my favorite ones are red ramshorns with brown spotted shells.

I love rabbit snails but they do have attenas so you'd have to check if any of your fish they'd be with would nip them.

I think based on my research and the feedback, I'm going to go with some Mystery Snails. Planning to go and get some probably after the new year as work is going to be getting extremely busy over the next month or so and then the holidays.

Thanks to everyone for their input!!

These guys are huge, I think they are so cool

If you look, his buddy is in the background - they are the same size. They are probably the first set of "pest snails" I got. I got them on purpose from someone at my LFS in my city from an employee there lol. But their goal was food. But I love these "pest snails". Its weird.

Yeah the mini's are kinda cool.. I wouldnt' mind some of them too.

Actually one of my future projects is a pickle jar aquarium... Was thinking a couple ghost shrimp or neo's and a couple colorful ramshorns.

I Love ramshorns! I have planorbella duryi myself, loads of beautiful colours. I find them beneficial to my tanks, rather than pests

I had to look those up, but they are super cool, and air breathing so must be quite active?

Hehe, yes! I believe yours will also be air breathing. Not sure on which exact species you have, but I'm sure they're also Planorbella. They're pretty amusing, when you drop floating food on the surface of the water, they'll hang upside down at the surface feeding. They also exhibit some unusual "hovering" like behaviour which definitely weirded me out at first lol
