What is your favorite subject?

Hi! I was just wondering what subjects people in this community liked the most. A lot of you are probably adults or wayy older than me (no offense), but right now I'm in high school so I was just wondering. My favorite subject is science or more specifically, Biology. I tolerate math but I'd rather stay away from it. What was or is your favorite subject? :) Feel free to also say the more specific ones like Chemistry and the rest.

Academic wise, science without a doubt. I loved Astronomy, Anatomy, Biology, and Chemistry when I was in high school. When I was in elementary school, my favorite part of the school day was watching good ole Bill Nye the Science Guy! I mean, who didn't enjoy watching Watermelons getting thrown by huge catapults and then wise guy Bill classifying the Watermelon smashing fest as kinetic energy? I don't care what anyone else says, these were the glory days in grade school!
Non-Academic subject would be the craft of Aquascaping aquariums for sure.

Omg. As unbelieving as it sounds, they still make us watch Bill Nye! Lol.

I am retired now, so high school is in the distant past. I liked most subjects and still enjoy learning new things. My favorite subjects were math, chemistry and physics. I went to college and studied to become a chemical engineer to incorporate those primary interests. I never regretted that decision.

I now have a granddaughter who is finishing her sophomore year in high school. She loves math and science, much to the consternation of her mother who majored in psychology, sociology, and criminal justice and who works with a charitable foundation that provides support to adults abused during childhood. My granddaughter may make her grandpa proud by following in my footsteps studying to become an engineer. She is even interested in attending the University from which her father and grandfather graduated. Engineers are in high demand to address the technological problems that the world faces. While engineering used to be the domain of men, women are now filling many of these engineering positions. Thus, for anyone with a strong interest in math and science, engineering can be a pathway to a secure future.

I have a very morbid pastime....not something that many would even think of.

For the last 40+ years I have studied aircrashes, I receive monthly reports from NTSB, AAIB and other air accident investigation departments around the world. It is something I have always had a keen interest in, on one occasion I even helped find a cause of a very nasty accident in an Amsterdam suburb some years ago.

When at school I was desperate to get into the RAF so took all the mechanically and technologically orientated subjects, I passed the exams, passed the RAF entry exams to become a flight line engineer which was my absolute dream. Then when it came to signing the paperwork my mother refused stating that working with aircraft was not a job for a woman.

So I went into heavy haulage driving 40 ton trucks across Europe and kept my aircrash interest alive. Retired from truck driving now with health issues but still avidly studying air accidents....oh and keeping fish too

If your mother knew you were going to drive heavy trucks, she might have signed off on your application for the RAF. Society has placed many artificial barriers to women entering certain career paths, Those barriers are coming down slowly. I am glad that my granddaughter has an interest in going to engineering school, although I suspect that her mother (my daughter) would prefer otherwise.

From your interest in analyzing flight incidents, it sounds like the RAF would have been very fortunate to have you on board.

This was back in the late 1970's, my heart was totally set on being up to my armpits inside an aircraft engine but she would not budge. Dad was really proud of my choice to join the RAF but mother absolutely refused. I went over to truck driving in revenge really, thoroughly enjoyed it but it was never my first love....which was aircraft. At weekends I used to volunteer at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Worked alongside the late Ted White working on his B17, Sally B, and was ground crew for a B25 Mitchell, Big Bad Bonnie.

Sounds like you have a strong willed granddaughter, I hope she can chase her dream and catch it too :)
