What is your favorite car?

While you're looking up Commodores, check out the VL SS Group A SV (aka the Walkinshaw)

Looks like a boxy Taurus SHO.

I'm not really into cars. A bit hard when you have to take the one you can afford.

My first car was a graduation present. Mazda RX2. Loved that car because it gave me my freedom. Somehow managed to put over 300,000 miles on that Mazda engine. It was is bad shape at the end. I'd go to the gas station and jokingly tell them to fill with oil and add a quart of gas.

Currently I drive a Plymouth Neon. Only thing I'd like to change is to add an AC system. A bit rough driving in 100+ degrees without a cooling system!

As for my fav. Honestly, I'd have to say one that gets me where I need to go....being as I've never had the chance to choose my vehicle.

Wasn't that long ago 4/80 air conditioning was the norm!

[4 windows down, going 80mph ]

That's what I have always done! Never owned a vehicle with AC. And the older I get, the harder it is for me to deal with the heat.

Problem is that I drive mostly city, so top speed is 40mph. And, those red lights are a killer!!

AC is a requirement in my cars. Highway-speed wind triggers sensory defensiveness. Plus, my hair is long enough that the wind wraps it around my head and into my face. Not conducive to safe driving.

I have ac but I never use it. I don't care how hot it is as long as I'm moving. I guess when I'm stuck in rush hour traffic I use it, but that's about it.

Lotus does a very nice job of keeping weight low and distributed allowing their cars to be very nimble. Every time I go up to Chicago I drool at a lot of the exotics that run around town, so maybe one day you will be driving a car that I will be drooling over .

It's actually quite torturous to see all the exotics so often. Thou you don't actually see the Lotus' as often as you would think... even around here. Probably something to do with the fact that half of the year there is 10 tuns of salt on our roads. There's a Lotus dealer not far from where I work. One day I think I'm going to walk in there, dressed to the 9's... and pretend I can actually afford one. Then ask for a test drive.

Y'all got no class ]

In the future, I wouldn't mind a Mercedes AMG CLK or SLK will do just nice.

SLK. Absolutley. Such a nice car.

There are... if I can ever scrape enough money together.

Wouldn't that require finding a cure for MTS first? ;0

The favorite car I've ever had is a very odd toss-up between my old Jeep Wrangler and my MGB Roadster. Two completely different vehicles but I really loved both of them. I'll never forget when we got a huge blizzard up in northwest CT that covered everything but the tip of the Roadster's antenna. Those were the good ole days.....

I want one! That car has some aggressive styling to the body. It kinda reminds me of the E30 M3 with the wider fenders and boxy styling.

I agree, then they sound amazing taking off from the stop light with the sound of the exhaust echoing between the buildings. I am surprised there aren't more lotus' around there, that would be perfect for the cramped driving downtown. There are a few around here along with some other exotics that I would never expect in NW Indiana. Haha, they seem to spray liquid salt every time there is a possibility of snow, then it doesn't happen . It would be more fun to walk into a dealer in tattered clothes and want an expensive car. I saw a guy do that when I worked for a chevy dealer (mechanic) who came in with torn jeans, t-shirt, and a backpack. Only thing was the backpack was full of money.

Good ole' MGB's, a small car with a huge hood . I like those though, it would be better if I could fit in it. That would be a lot of snow to cover the car that much, somewhere around 4 feet?

Four feet? More? Who can remember? Those were great blizzards. Back when that word actually meant something. LOL

Haha, these past few winters have been a let down around here and from the sound of it the same goes for you. Winter is boring without snow, might as well just be a very cold fall.

Two years ago was the only time I've not liked my wonderful little Yaris. Something like two feet of wet snow when my wife and a friend and I tried to go see a Harry Potter movie. Got stuck a dozen or so times before finally making it home. The car rides too low to handle that sort of snow. Worst thing was we didn't even get to see the movie. There was a problem with the digital file that kept messing up the projectors.

Beyond that, the cute little thing is wonderful. We get, on average, 5-10mpg better than the listed number, which is about as good as you can get for a non-hybrid car (and is significantly better than some hybrids).

That's awesome that you are able to get gas mileage better than what is listed. Plus, what is listed for those is already pretty good. Then again my standards are 30 mpg in my car coming from 15 mpg in my truck. Nowadays gas mileage is really important given the prices, and so is an efficient running car to cut down on emissions.

Those are some beautiful cars! How do you like the 5.0? I've driven the challenger srt-8 and camaro ss, but I keep hearing that the mustang wins when it comes to the power to weight ratio. Even a mazdaspeed 3 is awesome, a nice little factory sleeper . I gotta say, I'm jealous.

Alright, I'll add my dream car tie which is between a C6 Z06 (after driving it I fell in love) or an AudI RS6 avant if I could get one imported legally.

Keep them coming!

I love it man, I love it! Lol. I haven't always been the fondest fan of ford and the mustang, but it just made better sense for me. Believe me, I would have loved a purple challenger to park next to my road runner, but I felt the mustang was a better buy for me personally. I loved the challenger a lot more than the Camaro, but out of the three it had the least power and worst gas economy, but weighed the most. Performance for dollar ratio wound up being the deciding factor for me.

Its not to say I don't like the other two, I do, this is just the one that worked for me. Which brings me to my next comment. Its not a knock against anyone here, I see it everywhere. But I can never understand why people aren't just fans of cars period, or can at least have an appreciation for cars other than the ones they like most. Maybe its just me, but I feel like its a subconscious human need for competition that drives us to justify why we don't like what we don't have and why ours is better. I see it all the time. Last time I drove my classic road runner to work, I parked next to a guy in a tuned civic. Now, that car is certainly not one of my favorites, but I appreciated the work he put into it and complimented him on it. He immediately turned his nose down at my forty year old muscle car, described why his civic was better and left. Sigh, people sometimes. Animals are so much better. Lol

I'm a huge motor head. I make my living as an auto technician, so I say every car is just as bad as the next! lol. My favorite cars have to be all the DSM's, Diamond Star Motors. They are a joint venture between Chrysler and MistubishI and include the Eagle Talon, MitsubishI Eclipse, Galant VR4, 3000GT VR4, Lancer Evolution and Dodge Stealth VR4. My DSM is a 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. Its still had to find another platform that for less than 5k can run 10's on pump gas!

Someone mentioned the Scion FR-S? I work for Toyota, so I've had the pleasure of driving a few. One thing you need to understand, this is NOT a Toyota, its a Subaru. Under Subaru, it is badged the BR-Z. I have not had the chance to drive Subaru's version. From what I know, the Subaru and Toyota are tuned and suspended differently. The FRS will have a more linear, "Toyota like" powerband and a tendancy to over-steer for the "drift" crowd, while the BRZ has a much more pronounced "Hit" in power and much tighter and balanced handling in the corners. For both, they need more power. Plenty of room for a turbo, but the compression ratio is too high to run enough boost to benefit anything. I feel they left A LOT to be desired in this car. Oh, by the way, spark plugs are due every 30k, and you need a engine hoist to pick up the engine to change them...

I guess my favorite is the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. One, because it's a Trans Am, and two, because with a few simple mods you can get it to run 11s in the quarter mile.

That is a really clean car. It is hard to come by clean talons like that, let alone a TSI AWD.

I did not realize that there was a difference in the tuning and suspension between the subaru and the toyota. I like the fact that it has a subaru boxer engine, but it probably would have been better boosted. From what I have read there isn't even plans for an STI version from subaru till 2015 if it happens. I would still prefer the WRX STI and have the AWD for its benefits. Even though the balance of the boxer engine is nice, maintenance is the downfall on those. Even when there is room it is still harder to change plugs compared to other vehicles. I would rather hoist the engine to change plugs on that car compared to doing almost any work on a duramax diesel .

I had to look this one up, I didn't even know they made a turbo trans am. Gotta love simple mods for a fast car, and it seems decent to begin with.

It wasn't the only one they made, my first car was a 1981 Turbo Trans Am. They were incredibly slow, though. The 89 has been a lot more fun to drive.
