It is on my MopanI Wood.

Please help me identify what it is and if it’s natural or harmful to my Clown Loach.

Thanks.

I have some mopanI wood and did some research on it before I bought it it is probably the wood rotting I’m pretty sure the clown loaches would be fine and they might even eat it cause I know pleco’s do. I think the rot should go away but I’m sure a veteran in the hobby could clear things up.

*update
I took the wood out and scrubbed it off and it’s never returned.

Coradee

It’s a fungus quite common on new wood & harmless.
It will go away by itself, in the meantime if you don’t like how it looks you can scrub it off but it’ll likely keep coming back for a while.

MissNoodle

Fish will eat it my kuhlI loaches especially loved it. I deliberately toss acorn tops in my tank and they do this too, the fish love it, snails too. Its totally normal and harmless
