What is this white stuff forming on driftwood?

There is this white stuff forming on my drift wood what is it

That’s pretty normal for driftwood. It should go away in a few weeks. It’s basically feeding off of the extra nutrients in the driftwood. I don’t think you need to remove it, as it’s harmless and isn’t permanent.

Bacterial bloom / biofilm. Normal and will go away on it's own eventually

Just be warned, often that white algae is bad.

Its more like a mold feeding on your driftwood then algae. Most fish and inverts will feed on it and it wont do any harm to your tank.

You can clean it of if you dont like the look of it.

harmless like others said but I like to vacuum mine off when it gets soft enough. I once let it go away on its own and it took over 2 months, when it finally disappeared there was a mount everest of snail poop under it all

Yes! I had the same experience lol! But they cleaned it so nicely and then I had to vacuum up all the snail poop!
