Every once in a while I see these ribbon things appear on my 10 gallon Saltwater tank. This time I saw my cerith snail by it, but i'm not sure if that's the culprit or if it was just eating algae. Does anyone know what it is?

It looks like an egg ribbon. A lot of snails lay eggs in a ribbon similar to that. If you look close you can see the individual eggs and such. I'm not certain if the eggs are viable but that's what they appear to be to me.

"Breeding Cerith snails
Cerith snails can be bred in aquariums but quite a few aquarists consider them difficult to breed. They do however breed spontaneously in many marine tanks and can quickly increase in numbers. A lot of algae in the aquarium can help trigger these snails to spawn, and so can an increase in water temperature. The egg clusters look like twisted phone wires. They young snails grow rapidly and a lot of calcium is needed for proper shell development; it is therefore important to make sure that there is a lot of available calcium in the water. The young snails prefer calm areas without any current."

from here Congrats

Thanks! I guess they must be eggs. I wonder if I will have baby ceriths roaming around, or do they just lay eggs that aren't feritlized? This is the fourth time these ribbons have appeared on my tank, and so far I haven't seen any other snails.

they should be fertile but they're microscopic for the first few weeks.

Will do, one made another ribbon.. I will be able to go into the snail business pretty soon. They are averaging about one ribbon a week.
