I just saw on kijji this weird fish someone didn't name.
Looks like a axolotl or water newt, if not what is it?

Looks like a Golden Chinese Algae Eater. Generally not a good fish, as they don't eat much algae as they get older, and they are known to eat the slime off the sides of deep bodied fish.

Interesting! Thanks, looks like a sad tank he is in though....

It likely is, if the owner is trying to get rid of it, they likely know what it is capable of, I would not try to "save it" unless you can house it without trouble.

Yeah i wasn't going to buy it but was interested. If it were a axolotl i may have changed my mind.

It almost looks like a rosy red minnow to me. Which are the little 14 cent feeder minnows here in my area.

hmm yes indeed! I wonder witch one it is.... They look so similar.

It has the wrong shape for a rosy red, the face is wrong, the mouth is down not up of a minnow. A minnow will not sit on the bottom like that unless it is very ill, while a CAE will sit like that everywhere in the tank.

Oh right, they are similar looking at first glance. But true when you look more you can see the differences.
