I believe boesmanI are fairly hardy, ( and definitely beautiful.) I'm not sure personality wise though.

IMO Praecox rainbows. They are small (2.5") and are an iridescent neon blue with red fin edging.

I am loving my spotted blue eyes- they puff up at each other and are fun to watch but they are all for show and don't nip each other at all.

I absolutely love Celebes Rainbows. They are peaceful, get to about 3", need 2-3 females for every male. The males like to flare at each other for show. Because of their soft coloring (that's what I call it) it's best to have black substrate and background.
Another Rainbow that I like are the Gertudaes.

I am partial to Celebes Rainbows myself. I'm actually putting them into my 40 gallon once that is cycled. Everything I have read on them has said how peaceful they are. I also saw some in a not so local fish store and they are very pretty.

They are often overlooked because of the soft colors and the stores don't display them correctly. But once established, and in the right setting, their colors are beautiful. I love the lemony/ish colors on them with the blue/ green line going horizontally down the body is beautiful.

I could only find them online and at that one store that is an hour away from me. That store is an only fish store, and they seemed to really take care of their fish. They were in a huge tank along with diamond tetras, and were showing (I'm assuming the males) some pretty yellow coloring.

Hands down, threadfin rainbow. Finnage are no competition to these. Specially when they dance. Amazing colors
