What is the brown string like stuff on my feen? None of my other ferns in the other tanks have it.

It is a good and a bad sign. Good because you got babies, bad because the mother plant is getting old/leaves are dying.

Oh. So what do I do? Why is the plant dying - I bought it close to when I got the others that are fine?

mine is the same exact way... what should we do? cut the babies and rotten leaves off? or let it grow as is? (hope you dont mind me asking on your thread, but i swear mine looks EXACTLY the same, and i dont know how to get the babies off, so i left them.)

The entire plant is not dying but the mature leaf tend to go brown after it sprouts several babies. If left alone, babies detach themselves eventually and float around. You can find them a new spot at that point.
