What Is Nipping My Fish?

HI everyone

Recently I’m seeing some of my fish having their tail ripped a bit
But I can not be certain which one is responsible
2 of my male guppies (3 male & 5 female)
The 3rd older one chasing them from time to time

One of my female d-mollies ( only have 2 big female and a male panda gold molly)
One of my red phantom tetras ( have 2)

I have 2 black skirt tetras that I have doubt but they seem to stay still and not chasing anyone
I also have 5 zebra danios and 4 albino corydoras

Any ideas

I have white skirt tetras that I never saw nip the fins of my other fish, but as soon as I moved them to their own tank there were no more nipped fins in my main tank. So even though you don't see it, it could be them.

 

Its not the Corys. Other than that, its a toss up. Id say its either a Guppy or Tetra. They both like to nip (Guppies more so), and I'm not big on your stock, so Id say probably the Guppies. I do all males only, and a minimum of 7, or 1 male to 3 females and even then they nip at times. Phantoms aren't usually nippers, but you never know.

The one male I originally had chases other males
And the red phantoms are nipped alot
And sometimes zebra danios folling them
I’ve heard that if I add more to danios they won’t chase other fish as much is it true?
I have to try to move black tetras
And add danios and female guppies
What do you think
I wanted to send mollys away but it was so hard to catch them and I felt sad so I didn’t

 

I'm not a Danio expert, I have only kept them a few times and I haven't had any in over 22 years.

And unless you want to be overrun with fry, Id actually remove the female Guppies you have and go all males. But that's just me.

 

I’ll buy 2 more female guppies today and try to move phantoms or black to my other tank
