What is in my pond?

Hello all! I have a roughly 50 foot long by 20 foot wide pond thats at its deepest about 2 feet in my back yard. I've usually know just about every creepy crawly in a pond/aquarium but I saw something just a few minutes ago I've never seen. In the dirt there are tons of these little tenticle looking things sticking up and wiggling around. If I touch them with a stick they immediately pull back into the mud and disappear for a few seconds then come back up. I took a picture. Does anyone know what they are? This pond is in Topeka, Ks and is a fresh water run off water pond in the city.
