I have 8 discus. Anyway 3 or my snakeskins they’re on the smaller side they had their left fins damaged I assumed it was by the bigger discus. So they were swimming around with their left fins against their bodies. I bought some melafix to try to resolve the damaged fins. Anyway now some of the fins and sides of my other discus look different. Is this a fungus? A parasite ? Just damage ? What can I do to fix them?

Discus are really dedicate fishes. You need to have pristine water conditions, ph, kh, ammoni, nitrite, nitrate, temparature, size of tank. I would look for cause in those things.

Sorry I forgot to add that my water parameters are great and I do water changes every day.

Looks like Costia or Columnaris.

How do you treat these things? Are they fungus or bacterial infections would melafix treat these things or should I be adding something else to the water to treat them

Its definitely not costia (ich) maybe columnaris (very virulent bacteria especially in high temp.) but I don't have experience with it so I will not give you any advice is that it or how to treat it.

Does it look like a parasite or a fungus or a bacteria and is there a general type of medication that could cure many things in the instance of I have no idea what it is.

I wish I could offer more help to you. Columnaris is a nasty bacteria, and that link I commented will tell you all you need to know. As far as the possible costia, I’m really not sure, as Ive never dealt with it personally. With 8 nice Discus, we’re looking at several hundred dollars worth of fish and if it were me, I’d contact an aquatic vet ASAP. They’ll know what it is and what to do.

Heres a list of vets Important - A HUGE list of aquatic vets

where did the Discus come from? Did you get them all at once? or did you get a few then a few more? did they all come from the same source.
