40 Gallon Tank What is going on with my Betta?! (URGENT)

Hey guys, my Betta for the last month has been having these little white bumps on her, not like like ich, but more like what you would see on a fish that “scratched” itself. Recently however, her scales have started to fall off. Like how dry skin would on a human. It’s really weird to look at! So I began treating her with Methylene Blue, in hopes of helping. So far, nothing positive. Any idea what’s going on and how I should proceed?

I'm going to bump this to see if anyone knows what this is.
In the meantime what are your water parameters? Tank size? Temperature? Tankmates?
You can try an aquarium salt bath or adding some aquarium salt to the aquarium. Indian almond leaves might help a bit.

Is it possible to get a side picture? Is there anything in the tank sharp, or could cause injury? What type of filter do you have?

Here are some updates pics. You can see the white “peeling”.

Initially I thought she scraped herself, but she’s been in a Quarantine holding tank over the past few days, and the peeling occurred then.

also, my water parameters are pretty good.

Almost no ammonia, 0ppm nitrite and 5ppm nitrate

She was treated with a Methylene blue dip a few days ago. Nothing really helped ‍♂️

Leaning towards a bacterial infection.

Should I continue to treat with Meth Blue? Or try something like MinnFinn?

Can you describe your betta's behavior? Is it flashing? Laboured breathing? Gill plates open or normal?
It could be anything from a bacterial infection to flukes.

She’s still eating, but not much. She’s very lethargic, I have her in a quarantine to keep her close to the top of the tank. She just looks rough. Not sure what’s going on. And she will flash occasionally, knifing herself between the betta hammock and the side of the quarantine.

The white protrusions you see could very possibly be excess slime coat trying to heal over all the tiny infected areas. Methylene blue was a good thought as it does look like fungus but I don't think that's what it is, and I also think that's why the m. blue did not help. The slime coat can become so over-active that it turns into large bubbles - I've seen it happen on other posts before. Now to what this could be caused by... Most likely bacteria, especially given the state of her fins indicating fin rot.

It is very likely she will continue to deteriorate in the next day or so before you have the chance to get your hands on the exact medication you need. Guessing a medication would be a shot in the dark. I would start with moving her to an isolation tank and dosing aquarium salt. I've used it with great success on a rescue betta that looked much worse than yours (but did not have the same affliction).

If you have any PraziPro or you can get some very quickly, I would also try that in case of flukes. Even if you don't get to use it on her, it is a fantastic med to have on hand for the future.

Please update us when you can. Have you had a chance to find the med?
