What is better...Regular Black Flourite or the Red ?

I am starting up a large planted tank and wanted to get opinions on what is better, black flourite gravel or the red flourite (looks like flakes) ?

I have the red in a small tank and find it pretty good.

I have the black flourite sand in a tank and hate it (too hard to initially clean and makes a real mess every time I plant new plants and really stirs up when I try to clean the bottom)

I just bought several bags of the black flourite gravel and am hoping it will be much better (got a deal I couldn't pass up).

Opinions on what you use, and like the most, would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have both and love them you just need to make sure you rinse it real good.

I have black flourite.

As mentioned, you need to rinse it, rinse it, rinse it. I found it gave my tank a good grey type cloud for a couple of days while it settled.

Personally, I think the black helps to really show off the colours of fish. Not to mention that it's harder to see detritus on black, so the tank looks cleaner for longer.

 

I don't care for flourite myself. Color wise I say black.

 

The black sand is really messy but I started cleaning the black gravel and it doesn't seem too bad.
I really like the look of the black. As mentioned it will probably bring out the colors of the fish and plants better.
