This was in my 40. I recently just set this up about a week ago and haven’t added dechoorinator. I used all the plants I used from my 40 and gently rinsed them off hoping to get rid of the algae but it spread like crazy it’s annoying and it’s ugly. Can anyone help me with this? The reason those plants are floating is because they got uprooted when my driftwood floated when I filled the tank. So please help me I looked on the web and haven’t found anything

2nd edit: first edit didn’t work here’s the pics

It looks like algae. Common in newly set up tanks.
Why haven't you added any dechlorinator?
because plantsdont need dechlorinator. But I’ll add some anyway. Also they need a little bit of chlorine. But besides he point. Once my wood sinks and everything calms down I’ll get a merited or two and some ghost shrimp

It is new tank syndrome brown algae. It grows when you have nitrites or ammonie. Very few, if any animals will eat it but it will go away as the tank matures. For now, use and algae magnet or plastic credit card remove it. it is very easy to remove.
