I would say just veggies if you try something else.

Please don't feed your fish processed food like pretzels and cereal.

Guppies can eat cucumbers, lettuce, courgette (called zucchinI in the US), spinach, potatoes (both sweet and regular), carrots, and bell peppers. All should be blanched (cooked for a minute or two in boiling water). I have heard of people feeding both cooked and raw chicken and finely diced beef heart, but not specifically salmon. IMO if you really want to give "human" food it's probably best to stick to veggies and buy things like bloodworms or grindal worms for extra protein.

I will stick to vegetables and boil them. Mabye a bit of fish. But no processed foods.

Just make sure whatever it is to not leave it in there long or it will muck up your water! If you want to do fish try some frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp.

I tried giving my guppies veggies, but they never touched them. The only time I've seen them eat something that wasn't fish food (or bugs) was when they were picking off a layer from some leaves I put in for my shrimp.

On a side note, I've stopped thinking of any gnats, fruit flies, mosquitoes, or other bugs in the house as "pests" and started thinking of them as "guppy treats". Perspective is a beautiful thing.

I think I might try giving them flys and stuff like that.

usually so it'll sink easier. I only feed frozen zucchini. I put some in a cup and run it under hot water till it sinks in the cup then run cold water then drop pieces into my tanks. Everyone eats it. And if you haven't seen your pleco in a day or 2 just drop a piece of zucchinI in the tank after lights out and they will magically appear!

It makes the food a little bit softer and easier for the fish to eat. I've never noticed blanched veg being more likely to sink, but I tend to use things like spinach and nettle in my own tanks.

It definitely helps broccolI sink. Snails can't get to it if it's floating. That's the only vegetable I blanch. Squash gets sliced and clipped to the side as do leafy veggies.

It also helps to remove pesticides etc - important if your feeding shrimp (ours love a par-boiled floret of broccoli). For the same reason organic veg is preferable.
