in my 5 gallon tropical fish tank i have got 5 amano shrimp, 6 orange shrimp and 2 red cherry shrimp.
when i added the orange shrimp about 2 weeks ago they were all bright orange. But now about half of them are almost grey. what has happened to them?
i dont know if they are overcrowded but i dont really have any more room. as my 50 gallon has a bristle nose pleco in it and he will eat them =[
so any info on what has happened will be appreciated and also any advice on getting the colour back =]

ive heard havnig multiple types of shrimp in a tank can cause them to turn ugly colors (due to them breeding i believe)

Are there lots of leafy places and decor for them to hide? They may be molting. (hopefully)

well there is some driftwood and like a small plant with lots of big leaves that they can hide in. but there isnt really anything to hide from because there are no other fish.
