What Has Happened To My Mollies

My mollies were happy go lucky fish. When me or my mother went up to the tank they would come up to greet us. The mollies we had (2) had babies (12). Now we have a full tank. I have a 46 gallon with 2 red platies (I think I spelled that wrong) and 2 (cannot think if the name right now but they clean your tank walls) and now I have 14 mollies. Of course it's not a big problem yet because the babies are small. I am moving and so I give my tank to my brother. (This is a cycled tank). The tank is beautiful even with all the fish. After dropping add my tank and fish my brother sets it all up and another birth happens. Not too soon after these fish have grown the parents pass away. My fish are still happy go lucky fish but really too many fish. A local shop says they will take some of the mollies. Now I do not have a happy tank and I do not understand it. My fish hide. They do not come out to see me when I come over what happened????

Has anything changed? Like more vibrations in the room coming from TV or slamming doors? Also, what are your parameters?

tank parameters?
You said you just moved right?
How many fish are in there now?
can I get a picture of the things that clean your wall?
tank temperature?
picture of the tank setup?
what lighting do you have?
Did you make any big changes recently?

Sorry this has taken me spook long to return. My brother has my fish so I guess they his fish now. He is Neely married. The first thing I asked him was is Fatima tapping on thus tank the fish do not like that... He said no but I have my doubts. I am so sad about this and the mollies they used to be so happy. My mom would talk to them when she went there and they would flock to the front. All they do now is hide. He only wants Oscar's I told him no not with my mollies. Now he thinking about flushing my fish. I told him to give them to a store. He said he has no time. I just want to cry.

My brother moved the tank from the bedroom to the living. He had an ex-girlfriend take about half the fish in the tank or more to a fish shop. I guess there are about 12 maybe 13 fish left. He said he bout 2 red platy's but I only see one part time. I do not know the parameters I am not even sure if Vince is checking the makeup of the tank. I gave him the strips I had and told him where to keep the tank. Even I am knew at fish tanks but I moved and had to give mine away. He keeps the water clean. I told him to get 5 gallon jugs and treat that water then let it sit because the water is too HOT in the summer and too cold in the winter. The tank always looks clean. He has a python for water drainage.

Okay so I HIGHLY recommend you get the API master test kit and use that since test strips are SUPER unreliable. Dose he have a gravel vac or clean the gravel? If not you could have a high ammonia and that can be deadly if not taken care of. Do you know what genders you have, if not can you get gender? There is really nothing else I can help until I know water parameters. They could also be very stressed since they were moved to a new-ish environment and half of their friends went missing.

It is a gravel vacuum it sucks up the gravel and cleans our the food and gunk but then drops the gravel. I have no idea how to tell the sex of fish but they have stopped having babies. I will tell him about the APP master kit there is not any food buildup on the tank floor I believe he keeps the fish hungry in order to keep the tank floor clean.

Okay so they could be super stressed, start doing just weekly %25 water changes and feeding them twice a day. Also need that API master test kit, it’s only $20 and will last you 2 or 3 years

Ph is 6.2, total alkalinity us 0, total hardness is 300, the nitratrates are so bad they did not register on the strip. Now I know you told me to get the API tester but I told my brother and he has not got one yet. I told my mother and so said it's his tank let him by the tester. I will try to get one but I don't drive. The temperature of the tank is 76. Please tell me what I can dobtobfix the nitrates. This tank was a cycled tank. Vince keeps it clean he changes the water only when it gets dirty and he changes 50%.

Well that’s the problem #1, he needs to do WEEKLY %25 water changes not whenever he thinks the tank needs cleaned. For now do a %50 water change and dose the new water with prime not normal water conditioner. You can order it online to it’s very important for accurate test results. Also live plants will HELP bring down the nitrate.
