What happened to the emoji option on the bar above text input?

There used to be an option for manually adding emojis, but I don't see it anymore in the text editor. Can't tell if I'm just missing something or not haha.

Hopefully it gets added back... also, I noticed that emojis aren't allowed in signatures for some reason, so I'm not sure if that's related or if that's a separate issue.

Same! Even though there wasn't much to choose from I still liked having them around. Don't know why the option disappeared and we're not allowed to put them in our signatures anymore.

The emojis were causing an issue with page loads so they are disabled. Not sure if they are coming back - depends on the next release I'm working on for the forum software.

 

No emojis!! Oh well back to the stone ages .

I contacted the moderators about this two days ago, but never got a response. I'm hoping they fix it soon

 

As Mike said in the post above, it's not broken, it's disabled. Hopefully they will come back with the next software upgrade.

 

I hope they come back soon. If i don’t use the laugh crying emoji or smiley faces my words always sound mean or rude or whatever. Especially on a forum that’s all about teaching each other and correcting people.

Even though the emoji option is gone, is it okay if we write them out in our comments still (like : meh :, : angry :, : confused :, etc.) or should we try to avoid using emojis all together because of page load issues?

I don't know how to write them out, except using the punctuation marks that make a smiley face haha

 

I’ve recently been noticing that some of my posts have been removed due to specific uses of smilies/emojis, with notifications mentioning that they have been disabled. I’ve also noticed that the forum has been slowing down for me, so the lag caused by the smilies is likely taking it’s effect on me too.

Since users are still able to type them I’d appreciate some clarification on what is actually meant by the smilies being disabled, but if answering my enquiry may be a problem then I fully respect that, and in that case I’m happy without an answer.

We found out the emoji option was sending out subliminal messages telling people to:

Buy more fish even though the tanks are overstocked.
Buy more tanks even though we removed our couches to make room for them and granny got tired of sitting on the floor.
And the poor little baby had to give up the nursery because it made a GREAT fish room.

I don't know that we've been removing them. I know I haven't. Got bigger fish to fry so to speak.

This is what I love about older forums. Vintage memes such as this one are preserved. There’s a forum that my friend frequents with a popular user who’s pfp is one of those green bunchie things from a similar time period.

On this topic of emojis, what about the variations to the Like button. I notice some times it brings up a list of other selections but then before I can pick one it's gone and I have no idea how it opened in the first place. I've been trying different things but nothing's working. What am I missing or doing wrong??

On 'puter I mouse over Like to see the selections before clicking one. On phone, touch and hold Like then select one.
