I am looking to get a tank for frogs and I would like some input as to which type. I want them to be rainforesty as I like the look with the plants and water(I want the frogs to be above ground mostly. Not only aquatic ones) how do you set it up? Is it just potting soil in a tank that has a part with a little water and plants? Any advise is appreciated!!!!

I’ve used dirt before with no issues but I’ve been using bio bedding from joshsfrogs along with springtails and dwarf white isopod.I have five tree frogs in a paludarium it’s a rainforest setup up for them you can buy the paludarium kit from petco the bottom half has water with mosquito fish in the bottom the middle to top part is a custom background made out of spider wood and cork bark flats/tubes along with driftwood

Plants used
1.Duckweed
2.Amazon sword
3.java fern

Stocking
5.Green tree frogs
5. mosquito Fish

I posted a picture of it when I finished it I believe you can find it on my profile

I really suggest Whites tree frogs! They're cute, they have this little smile on their faces. My whites are always hanging around at the top of the tank and they are ferocious eaters and very active and entertaining. For substrate, I suggest a mix of coco fibre, sphagnum moss and orchid bark. This creates a perfect moist substrate, which raises the humidity of the tank and contains moisture for your plants. Don't use potting soil, it can contains chemicals that can hurt your frog. I've found this recipe to be the cheapest and most effective. As you want to create a paludarium, I suggest using either Matala or gravel as a drainage layer. Plants that I suggest are peace lilies, happy plants, bromeliads, fruit salad plants, any mosses and ficus pumila. I've also had success with many ferns, particulary the birds nest fern. Also parlour palms.

Check out Serpadesign on youtube - he has a fabulous paludarium tutorial.
Also, check out the bio-dude, particulary his matala paludarium video.

For a cleanup crew I suggest springtails and isopods.
If you wanyt to make a background, use spray foam and silicone andf dirt - google spray foam background tutorials on youtube. Be sure to include a waterfall if you make a background, hehe!
Be sure to post pictures!!

Yeah, they're the most important part!! If you have a cleanup crew, that means you never, ever have to clean the planted section. You only have to clean the water.
You can buy them online, josh's frogs have them I'm pretty sure.
So does the bio-dude.
