I've been a stay-at-home mom since my daughter was born in Feb '03. Before that, I was an Air Force Personnel Officer. I'm planning to go back to work when the kids go to school--either a government job or teaching.

Oh cuuute. I love 3 to 5 year olds. They're so interested in the world and discovering it all. They have the funniest conversations as well.

My dad is a reserve officer in the airforce. I reckon he's quite high up but I keep forgetting his grade! :

Well I am a nanny for 3 children. I work for 2 separate families, but they are related. I've worked for them for 3 yrs now. I started out watching 2 kids. At the time there was 1 boy and he was 6 mo. old when I started watching them and he has a cousin, a little girl who at the time was 2. She is now 5 and is in pre-school and will be starting kindergarten next yr. So I no longer nanny for her unless there is an emergency reason too. More recently the older boy is 3 now and potty training. He has an adopted sister from Korea who is 1. She was only 3 mo. old when I started watching her. She's a big stinker. I'd say she's the biggest stinker of them all. Then there is another boy, the brother of the 4 yr. old girl I watched when I first started out with them. He is 1 1/2. He's Mr. Trouble, but still very cute. I love them all. they are really great kids. They can all be stinkers and bratty at times, but what child isn't at 1 point or another. I love my job. It's very tiring though. They definitely keep me on my toes. ;D Natalie

No, that's for sure. I was at a friend's house last night and her 4 y.o. daughter's hair just got 'accidentally' cut by her little 5 y.o. neighbour. Thankfully, the mom saw the funny side. I woud have totally freaked!

Hey, not just girls do that you know. My brother cut my sister's hair and his own hair when he was little. My mother wanted to kill him.

Jim, what part of the Gulf Coast? I grew up in Pensacola and own a house in Milton. I worked at Eglin AFB for several years...

And as for this topic - I am currently an unemployed Software Engineer. I could get a job if I tried, but I don't want to do that anymore and I haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up. Something to do with animals, for sure.

Oh, and I see from your profile info that you're 33, and you still don't know what you want to be when you grow up? We think a LOT alike! hehehe

Better add my title to the roll of honour..... Guest House Manager. Great job, live-in, flat supplied, lots of time to do what I love and loads of space for creating new projects! (Shame I'm running out of room inside though!)

lol funny how I always forget that there is more to the "Florida Gulf Coast" than just my neck of the woods!

Being a software engineer is bad when you hate programming. I got into it for the money (which was good) but it turns out my mom was right about money... So maybe I'm still not ready to grow up, but I *do* need to get a job one of these days! Sugary cereal for the win!!

well, I have a coder's heart, I love it - but st.auggie isn't exactly much use for someone doing that or what I do now (video production).. even with the huge population growth things are the same here as far as technology jobs go.. I guess that's why I got a job offer from Denver - freelancing is alright, but it's a better market there, so I'll probably take the job even though I love florida and miss it every day that i'm not here.

I know exactly how you feel.  I have degrees in both computer science and accounting... and I found I hated both. Now I drive a poo pumper truck for a living.

Jumping in a little late, but I think growing up is totally overrated! I tell my kids I have lived three lives, two of which they will never hear about. I wasn't a bad person, just did things like driving a Corvette over 120 mph. I NEVER want my kids to know that one!

As for what I do for a living......currently co owner/manager of a general construction company. All that means is I do the paperwork, and leave the hard work up to others! It works pretty good for me. I have time for fish, and other interests, like last fall running for the state legislature. That was a total pleasure, I pushed myself, getting really outside my comfort zone, debating on TV (first time to debate in 35 years!), and just talking in front of large crowds. Well I grew up some, and realized I can still do things I never thought I would.

So now I took on a NEW and really exciting project. I am involved with AGEL, a MLM wellness company who is going HUGE! In two years we are in 43 countries! There is nothing like sleeping and knowing someone around the world is making you money! All you out of work programmers and engineers check it out! It has just started, and there is still room for those spots where you could be making $50,000/month! People are doing it right now in this company, and more! PM me if you want info.....
