What Does A Healthy Crowntail Betta Look Like?

So i'm hoping to get a crowntail soon and I want to know what healthy fins look like. Sometimes there close together and I wonder if they are clamped.... Or sometimes the end are bent and I don't know if there relaxed or just broken.... Share photos of your healthy crowntail bettas as a good example.

The first thing to look for is if they're just sitting on the bottom, not moving much. Not the best choice.
The second is any obvious wounds on their body or tiny white ich spots.
Clamped fins look like this:

A healthy, displaying crowntail looks like this:
If the betta is relaxing, the fins will just hang lower. If they're clamped, they're pinched together at the base of the tail and all the way down.
If the water is blue, that's just a preventative medication, methylene blue.
Hope this helps.

Tank size?
Filter? (Cycled tank?)

We need to know the conditions ur fish is living, and then we could help.

They said they don’t have a fish yet. They want to know what to look for in getting their first betta.

A healthy crown tail betta has a large 180 degree spread of sharp fins. A proper crown tail has webbing that’s about one third of the entire tail length. A crown tail should also have no lumps or bumps as well as clear eyes and straight scales that lay flat. Bettas that exhibit the “criss cross” or “double spike” pattern is desirable and must be across the entire tail fin. Fins should have a soft, directional curve when relaxed but never broken or tattered. Crown tails are prone to a somewhat noticeable penduncle bump (small bump near beginning of tail) this bump is undesirable but not harmful. Some crown tails may also have a “balok” which is not desired nor is it undesirable but some hobbyists enjoy the look. Crown tail males and females are prone to bloat as well so avoid those with enlarged stomachs. These are a few guidelines to picking a fish with superior breeding and health.

Here are a few examples I found on eBay...

Here is a pic of my crowntail betta, Frazier, the first year when I got him
He’s from Petco so not a show betta. Just a handsome feisty one.

jenmur Frazier is beautiful, but I would've named him Liberty - his red, white and blue coloring reminds me of the American Flag!

Hehehe. I considered Steve for a little bit but Steve Rogers is nice. Frazier is a jerk (to other fish). Hehe. I had a list of potential names and I put it to a vote and Frazier won! Named after the boxer. He’s lived up to it so far! Right now battling fin rot, poor guy!. But he’s fighting!
