What do I need for guppy and goldfish tank

I have a 20 gallon tank with guppies, but I really really love goldfish and would absolutely love to get one for my tank, I read that you can have goldfish and guppies together and that 20 gallons is about acceptable for one goldfish and I'm wondering what I would need to keep both fish as happy as possible, so far the only problem I see is there might not be enough oxygen in the tank due to warmer temps but I do have an air stone, so would this be an ok setup?

You're playing with fire by keeping a goldfish in a tank that size with guppies. You'd have to get a fancy goldfish, and they create so much waste that to have a school of guppies in there too means a lot of maintenance, at best.

IMO 20 gallons is not big enough for a goldfish. These fish get very large and are also very social. You can do it if you really wanted to, but the tank size is not ideal for a goldfish. Also guppies are tropical and goldfish are cold water. You would have to keep the tank at 72 to satisfy both, no room for error.

I agree wholeheartedly on all counts. It's important to consider that while 20 gallons per goldfish is acceptable, your baseline tank footprint to keep goldfish at all needs to be bigger than a 20g can give you. A 60 gallon with three goldfish is fine, but a 20 gallon isn't.

From your profile info it seems like you've been keeping fish for a relatively short time. Remember as you move forward in this hobby that "just about acceptable" is very far from actually acceptable. Don't try to justify your ability to keep a fish in a situation that isn't healthy for it just because you want it. It never ends well. If you can, set up a truly acceptable tank for your dream fish! If you can't right now, you have something to look forward to and work toward down the line.

20 gallons is pushing it for just one small goldfish, never mind a goldfish with tankmates. It's a recipe for a random ammonia spike and a ton of dead fish.
